LEICESTER FRENCH CIRCLE WELCOMES YOU
LE CERCLE FRANÇAIS DE LEICESTER VOUS ACCUEILLE
PROGRAMME FOR 2024/2025
We are proud to have substantially delivered our programme of talks and activities for 2024/2025.
Still to come, we have a quiz evening at the Oadby Tennis Club on the 6th of March at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
The next event on the 20th of March will be our Annual General Meeting which is held online on Zoom.
One of the key items on the AGM agenda will be the election of a new committee. We are always looking for new members of the committee! If you are interested in chatting to one of the committee members to find out more of what we do, please use the contact form below.
The AGM is unfortunately restricted to our members who will receive the joining instructions by email.
If you have any queries or need any further information, please use the contact form below.
New Committee members
We are actively looking for new committee members to join our team of 5 for the 2025/26 season.
The challenges and possibilities for even a small group like ours are ever increasing. To continue to thrive in the 21st century, we need new committee members with fresh ideas and unique skills.
In particular, we are looking for people with IT competencies who would be willing to set up and assist with the technology at the Oadby Tennis Club and improve our website.
Could you organize the French Circle meal? Would you be willing to co-ordinate a trip to our twin town of Strasbourg or somewhere else? Are you a young adult hoping to gain experience of working with a voluntary group? If your answer is yes to any of these questions then we’d love to hear from you.
We celebrated 125 years of the French Circle this year. Let’s work together to build our organisation for future generations in Leicester.
OUR AIMS AND VALUES
The Leicester French Circle is a social group of members and supporters who share a passion for the French language and culture.
We arrange talks in French at the Oadby Tennis Club and also online on the Zoom platform through our panel of speakers from the Alliance Française and from the French Circle.
We also organise social events at the Oadby Tennis Club, Café Chloe Gourmet in the city centre and at the Phoenix cinema.
From time to time, we are asked to recommend French tutors for adults and children. This is not part of our remit, and we would recommend that you search locally through organisations such as Leicestershire Adult Learning Services. The Leicester French Circle takes seriously its safeguarding responsibility to its members and to others with whom we interact and therefore cannot recommend individual language tutors or pen pal contacts.
We also receive unsolicited requests from authors and others wishing to promote their books and commercial services. Unfortunately, we have to politely decline their requests as we are a social organisation with no wish to promote commercial enterprises.

ABOUT US
A Bit of Background
The Leicester French Circle, founded in 1899, is an Anglo-French Society welcoming everyone interested in France and the French language. Evening meetings usually take the form of a presentation, in French, on a wide variety of interesting topics.
The Leicester French Circle is affiliated to the Alliance Française de Londres, a charity whose aim is the diffusion of the French language and culture, and that supports French Circles around Britain.
